As students return to school, continue to encourage reading for learning as well as enjoyment.  

Family reading can be a motivator and serve as a model for young students and teens.

NOVEMBER

November Canned Food Drive (1– 16) Students donate canned goods and non-perishable items to feed the hungry for Thanksgiving.  Houses will compete for the Top Number of canned goods collected.  Please remind students that outdated items will not be used or counted.

DECEMBER

“New Toy Drive” for Harvey Victims (1 – 15) Students and staff will donate brand spanking new toys for Houston Flood Victims.  A large box will be placed in the corridor outside the office for collections.

JANUARY

Leukemia Drive – (16 – 29) – Students collect money for Leukemia Patients. The House that collects the most money will receive a catered lunch form Olive Garden!  And the office will throw in a giant sheet cake for dessert!

FEBRUARY  

Black History Week (19 – 23) Students write ½ page essays on a prominent Black American and include an illustration.  Chosen students will read reports during morning announcements.  Teachers will post essays in the halls for judging.  A Black History Trivia Question will be read daily.


MARCH – SPRING BREAK ~ APRIL –STAAR TESTS


MAY  

Career Week (21st – 25th) Students will engage in career guidance sessions and write a report on their future career.  Friday the 25th is CAREER DRESS UP Day. Students will dress in their career attire.
